Blog Stop & Giveaway: Undeclared by Jen Frederick

For four years, Grace Sullivan wrote to a Marine she never met, and fell in love. But when his deployment ended, so did the letters. Ever since that day, Grace has been coasting, academically and emotionally. The one thing she’s decided? No way is Noah Jackson — or any man — ever going to break her heart again.

Noah has always known exactly what he wants out of life. Success. Stability. Control. That’s why he joined the Marines and that’s why he’s fighting his way — literally — through college. Now that he’s got the rest of his life on track, he has one last conquest: Grace Sullivan. But since he was the one who stopped writing, he knows that winning her back will be his biggest battle yet.

This is a mature New Adult book. I see that it is classified as YA - not sure how to change that - but I wanted to be clear that it has explicit love scenes in the story.

Review:

Undeclared by Jen Frederick

Just want to start by saying how much I liked this story. I loved the way the author wrote  in both main characters point of views, the main characters are terrific (Grace and Noah)

The story  captures your attention from the beginning, it starts with the writing of letters between Grace a girl in school writing for a project and Noah a Marine. Their long distance relationship lasts for years. Noah and Grace are actually only a few years apart but their lives couldn't be more different. Noah coming from a poor family, mother dead a abusive father, he's pushes himself to have a better life. Grace comes from a family with money but her father died several years ago and her mom turned to antidepressants and they moved in with her cousins family, she just wants to decide what to do with her life and not be a follower. When they are finally brought together, the story captures the overwhelming feelings Noah has for Grace and his regret of hurting her when he stopped writing and Grace's sadness missing Noah. The feelings are captured of both characters and gets the reader emotionally involved in their lives. The main supporting characters Lana (Graces cousin and best friend) and Bo Noah's best friend and Marine buddy are well written with the support and love they give to their friends, both  want happiness for the other. The ups and downs in Noah and Grace's relationship is written in such a way you can't help but pray for their happiness. The turning point in their relationship is explosive and you won't want to stop reading.

The end left a few items left open which I was bummed about. Noah's quest for being a self made man ( business opportunities) and where Noah and Grace's future goes for here. I am assuming their will be a book 2 if not there was a few things left hanging, I would like to see a story about Bo. Over all I enjoyed this story a lot and would highly recommend . I would give this book a 4 stars

Spotlight: The Forgotten Ones by Laura Howard

About The Forgotten Ones

Allison O'Malley's plan is to go to grad school so she can get a good job and take care of her schizophrenic mother. She has carefully closed herself off from everything else, including a relationship with Ethan, who she's been in love with for as long as she can remember.

What is definitely not part of the plan is the return of her long-lost father, who claims he can bring Allison's mother back from the dark place her mind has gone. Allison doesn't trust her father, so why would she believe his stories about a long forgotten Irish people, the Tuatha de Danaan? But truths have a way of revealing themselves. Secrets will eventually surface. And Allison must learn to set aside her plan and work with her father if there is even a small chance it could restore her mother's sanity.

Excerpt:

“What time do you get off work?” he asked.
I turned and narrowed my eyes at him. “I close at six. Then I have to balance the register, so around six thirty.”

Ethan looked down at his hands for a second, then glanced up at me through his thick lashes. “You want to get something to eat when you’re done?”
I licked my lips, his dark brown eyes pulling me in. I tore my gaze away and tried to focus on the computer screen. He didn’t say anything for a few moments, and I fidgeted, knowing he was watching me. When I turned toward him, his expression was so intense that my stomach somersaulted.

“Just one time,” he said quietly.

“What?”

“Say yes, just one time.” Ethan slowly moved behind the counter, his eyes never leaving mine.

“If you don’t have a good time, fine. But, I’ve been trying to get you to give me a chance for years. Don’t act like you didn’t know.”

I shook my head slightly as he approached, wanting him closer but afraid of what it would mean.

He stopped, his brow creasing. “I won’t hurt you,” he whispered.

His expression was so earnest my mind went blank for a moment.

“Ethan,” I began, my thoughts scrambled. “You know I’d like to—”

“So say yes.”

I looked up at the ceiling. I was tired of always pushing him away. If I went out with him once, maybe then I could convince him too that this was a bad idea. I covered my face with my hands.  “All right,” I mumbled through my fingers.

“What was that?” I felt the warmth of Ethan’s hands as he pulled my own away from my face.

“I said all right,” I repeated, my insides fluttering.

He gathered my hands and pulled them close to his chest. His scent, clean and fresh like sun-warmed denim, made my knees go weak.

With his head tilted back, he exclaimed in a mock reverent tone, “Yes! Thank you! Six-thirty on the dot. Be ready. I’m picking you up!”

Blog Tour Stop: Stay with Me by AC Marchman

Synopsis:

Allie Marshall, PA student, and Dr. Donovan Callahan have overcome such intense drama in their short relationship. Dealing with thoughts of Claire, his ex who sits in jail for murdering her husband, to Allie's secret past, has been extremely stressful. From the day they met, it has been hot and heavy; both of them giving into their wants and needs. The pair have thrown caution to the wind and ...just went with their hearts. All seems well, finally, and Allie is letting go of her insecurities, which could ultimately threaten to be her downfall. That is, until someone from Donovan's past decides to make a surprise and unwelcome appearance at a wedding the couple attends. A shocking announcement is made that will force Allie to question everything about Donovan-- his honesty, his character, even his feelings for her. Will this be the final straw, or will this be a test of strength of their feelings for each other?

Donovan's Top Ten Things:

Fav tattoo: I don't have any tats, but if I did, I would get my grandfather's name with his birthday and the day he passed away on my bicep.

Fav car: Gotta love my silver BMW

Fav food: Good question.  Pretty much anything that qualifies as Southern comfort food.

Fav sexual position: Ha!  I'd have to say girl on top

Fav part of a woman's body: I know you think I should say the obvious, but actually, it's the eyes.

Fav alcoholic beverage: I know I should say wine, being that my father owns Callahan Vineyard, but I have to say it's an ice, cold Heinken.

Fav memory as a child:  That would have to be when my father and I would ride our horses to the lake on our property.  I was just a kid, so it was nice to have some one on one time with my dad. We would just sit and talk for hours.

Fav. moment with Allie:  There is way too many to name, but if it has to be just one, it was when I brought her back to my house after dinner at the Sun Dial.  My sister made my back porch into quite a romantic get up.  She put up white lights, set up a table with chocolate strawberries and the diamond pendant I bought her.  Plus, the sex afterwards was pretty damn awesome.

Fav. person ever: My baby sister Megan.  She's a pain in my ass sometimes, but she is always there for me and she never judges me.

Fav. sports team: Without a doubt, the Redskins.  My grandfather used to take me to a bunch of games when I was a kid.  We had a blast.

Book Description

I should have known by the tattoos that Sawyer was trouble. My mother always said to stay away from boys with ink, but she ignored her own advice. She also abandoned me and my little sister.

Life's been hard for the two of us, on the run and on our own, but I just turned twenty-one and started working at a bar in a new city. I wear a fake wedding band and a veil of lies.

My gold ring didn't stop Sawyer. He looked into me with his heavenly green eyes, and I nearly forgot my pretty lies. Now he wants to help me get my life together.

I should stay away, because he could blow my cover. When we get found—and I know one day we will—I want my sister to be old enough to handle the truth about our past.

I may be hanging out with Sawyer, but we're definitely not dating. I swear, he's not setting me on fire with every glance or casual touch. We're just friends. I'm not thinking about him wrapping those tattooed arms around me, every second of every day.

Book 1 in the Runaway Lies Trilogy. New Adult Contemporary Romance.

Review:

For You by Mimi Strong

Aubrey the main character will do anything it takes to protect her daughter . The writer grabs you in to Aubrey's life and makes you feel all sorts if emotions. I felt mad that she had such a terrible mother (I would like to call her something worse but not appropriate) , I felt sad that she until she meets her grandparents and uncle she was a alone, single mother raising  her daughter. I felt Aubrey was the strongest person for going through everything she did  to protect her daughter.

In walks Sawyer Jones a sexy as hell tatooed artist whose trying to make decisions about his life.  He can't seem to stay away from  Aubrey even though she's cold to him but can't stop checking him out and wanting what she thinks she can't have.  Sawyer longs for Aubrey  he tries his best to woo her, make her laugh or talk to him but at first its a struggle. I enjoyed the back and forth banter  between Aubrey and Sawyer. I felt this guy would be perfect for Aubrey but as the story continues you learn some sad, scary secrets that Aubrey keeps hidden and you can't help but understand her reluctance of staying away from Sawyer.  As the story continues Sawyer reaches in and touches the soul of Aubrey and even though she pulls away, is hot and cold  towards him , he won't give up and Aubrey doesn't want him to. Sawyer and Aubrey make decisions that will effect the rest of their lives for the better. I felt the writer captured the hardship Aubrey went through and felt she also captured the feelings Aubrey and Sawyer had for each other. Sweet story of loneliness, sadness, happiness and love.

Excerpt:

Aubrey
Sawyer came bounding in the door, one hand behind his back with something.
“What are you up to?” I asked warily.
“Close your eyes.”
I closed my eyes and rested my forearm over my face for good measure.
Something cool touched my chest, between my breasts.
“What is that?” Something smelled sweet. “Honey?”
I heard his jeans rustling as he removed them, then he positioned his body between my legs and began to lick in a line straight up my stomach.
“Mm,” he said. “Real maple syrup.”
I giggled. “You're kidding.”
“We call this The Canadian, don'cha-know, eh?”
“You just made that up.”
“I was inspired.” He moved his hot lips closer to my throat, then took a detour over to my nipple, which he rounded with the tip of his tongue before sucking.
I moaned and squirmed beneath him, but he wouldn't let me get away.
He murmured, “Am I your part-time lover?”
“Yes.”
He frowned and gently bit my nipple. “Am I your part-time lover?” he asked again. “Or your full-time lover?”
“Oh. No, you're my full-time lover.”
“Good. You can open your eyes now,” he said.

Destined to Succeed Excerpt:

Cade walked up behind me and pulled my hand with the shot glass up to his mouth. He had me press it to his lips as he slammed it back. He was standing so close to me. His chest was pressed against my shoulder.

“You havin’ a party without me, hon?” I could feel his breath against my neck.

“A party just ain’t a party without Cade Walker, right?” I was trying to be funny, but my voice was shaky because he was just too close for me to think straight. He gently turned me around to face him. I felt his finger under my chin as he tilted my head up to look at him. His eyes were smoldering and this might have been the shots talking, but he was totally kissing me with those eyes.

Author Bio:

I grew up in a really small town in Missouri. Very similar to the fictional town I wrote about in my novel. I moved to the big city right after I graduated. I work full-time and I am mom to a beautiful little girl. I started writing in October when a group I am in had a prologue contest. I didn't win the contest, but everyone who read my prologue asked for more of my story. I decided I had to finish it and get these characters that were in my head out on paper. During the writing process it became clear that this was going to be more than one novel. It had to be a series. I have at least 2 more novels planned for the Destined Series. I also have an idea for a YA novel that stems from one of the characters in Destined to Change...hint, hint. When I was asked to write this bio I explained that I am really boring and it would be really short...so, that's about all there is to know about me. I love music and honestly couldn't have written this book without my Spotify playlist. I am kinda obsessed with frogs (not real ones) and office supplies are my downfall! I could spend my whole paycheck at the stationery store...boring, didn't I already say that? lol Also, I am slightly addicted to Facebook and Voxer. Please message me on either one...I would love to hear from all of you.
